Cost
If you want an attractive and well designed garden, it is well worth investing some money towards its creation. It will be an ever present pleasure and at the same time add value to your home both materially and emotionally.
As an estimate, a complete design and construction of your garden should be around 10% of the value of your home. This may be lower for complete wildlife gardens with their emphasis on plants rather than hard landscaping.
Other cost factors will depend on the size of your garden and the ambitions you have. For example, it will cost more if your design ideas are complicated or for plans necessitating a larger degree of built environment. return to top
Fees
We charge £60 for consultation
Our full garden designs cost from £ 950 depending on size of garden. The costs include survey, drawn plans, plant list and source and contract management. All other costs will be for material and labour / contractual costs
We advice our clients to consult The Society of Garden Designers “Engaging a Garden Designer Guidance for Clients on Professional Fees”.

We offer a full and flexible design service, specialising in native, wildlife and environmental gardens. We welcome any size of project whether you want a full garden renovation, or to dedicate a part to a themed garden, incorporate a pond or enhance a border.
We will oversee your garden design to ensure from concept to completion it is done to the best environmental methods and principles. Sourcing plants from suitable sustainable eco-friendly suppliers and working alongside contractors to create a beautiful space for you and wildlife to share and enjoy. See “Our Green Policy”.

Where we come and visit you and are introduced to your garden, undertake a plot survey, discuss some general design ideas and find out what you want.
If you decide you would like to go ahead we will then draw up a rough draft sketch showing the initial design ideas and concepts. We will also provide an estimation of total costs. At this stage we will ask for a deposit of 10% of the estimated costs of the project to cover expenses and design costs thus far.
Completion of draft plans
The draft sketches and estimates will then be posted, faxed or emailed to you for your approval. If the initial draft is satisfactory, we can agree a final plan and your budget by phone or e-mail.
We will then draw up a comprehensive master plan showing all details of the agreed design, including full planting list. During this process we will keep you fully consulted to ensure the design is what you want. At this stage, we will expect an outlay of 25% of the expected total costs.
To agree master plan, help you select a landscape contractor and assist with ordering plants. At this stage an extra 25% will be billed to cover the costs of material and other costs.
Throughout every stage nothing will be done without your full permission. If you are happy for us to go ahead, a contract by way of an exchange of letters will be undertaken to formalise the arrangements after the Consultation. Once the project is satisfactorily completed the remaining 40% will be requested. Settlements of accounts is expected within one calendar month of receipt of invoice. Failure to settle will result in 5% surcharge applied continually every calendar month.
